• I have a 10 week old puppy who got DAPP and Bordetella vaccines at 6 weeks and 9 weeks. He hasn't had rabies vaccine yet. We have heard that puppies shouldn't go out in public or meet other dogs until they are fully vaccinated. However, we want to make sure he is properly socialized and we have a camping trip scheduled for next week. What kinds of precautions do we need to take?

Hi Maggie, I recommend that you talk to your local veterinarian about this question. Usually it will be best to avoid certain areas where diseases may be present until they are fully vaccinated. This does not mean that they need to be completely apart from other dogs. Interaction with healthy pets in a controlled environment is usually okay. The best recommendations will depend on the age and health of your pet as well as the risk of infection in your local area. Your vet knows your pet and the local risk so they can give you the best advice on this.
