  • Hi, my dog has had diarrhea since last night. He's been going out around every half hour. It's just brown mush that's coming out. I'm thinking he upset his belly somehow. It's happened in the past but never for this long. I have been up all night and I'd love some sleep. Is it save to give him Immodium? I've researched online the dosage and I'm coming up with .72 mg, so like 1/3 of a 2 mg pill. He weighs about 18 lbs. Any problems with me giving him some?

    Hi Cherie,
I recommend that you take him into see a veterinarian. Diarrhea for as often as you are describing is concerning and can quickly lead to dehydration or other issues. There can be a few different causes for this including infection, intestinal parasites, inflammation of the GI tract, or an underlying medical issue. Your vet can talk to you more about the cause of the diarrhea and the treatment he needs after they have examined him.
