I recommend that you talk to your local vet about this question. There are many different medications that are in heartworm preventives, most are in a drug class called the avermectins. However, there are some newer ones that don’t fall into this category. Unfortunately, Frontline Plus does not prevent heartworms. The preventive that will be best for your pet will depend on where you live, the environment that you pet is exposed to, and your pet’s overall health. Your vet knows your cat and they will be able to advise you on which product will be best.
