Dr. Bruening was born and raised in a rural Northeast Missouri community. She graduated with a B.S. in communication/public relations from Missouri State University in 1998. After working in the communication field for several years, she decided she had a different calling. Through inspiration from her grandpa and motivation fueled from volunteer work with a Springfield animal shelter, she went back to school to become a veterinarian. She graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. When not working, Dr. Bruening uses every waking moment raising her three young children, playing with their horses, dogs and multiple cats. She is grateful to God for all His Blessings, and for her amazing and hardworking husband, healthy children and for her parents and in-laws. Dr. Bruening works part time for Banfield and has a special interest in preventive medicine, client education, reducing fear associated with clinic visits for anxious dogs and cats.
