Dr. Burge is a Georgia native. Her family encouraged her to go into veterinary medicine from a young age because her mother saw her affinity for nature and animals. She received her undergraduate degree from Berry College and graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. Dr. Burge spent a year completing an internship in a busy, 24-hour Washington, DC small animal hospital. Having been with Banfield since 2010, she feels a strong connection with the people and pets that make this practice great. Dr. Burge then moved to western North Carolina and enjoys this exploring the beautiful area with her husband, Mike, their four-legged family members (Maximus, Snoopy and Fiona), and a few backyard chickens. In addition, to camping and hiking, she also enjoys spending time in her vegetable garden, checking out local restaurants, and the Asheville music scene.
