After three years dodging enemy fire as a door gunner crew chief in an observation helicopter during Vietnam, Army veteran Dale suffered from shell shock and battle fatigue, labels now known as PTSD. This led him to seek various coping mechanisms that provided little comfort or hope. That is, until he entered the K9 Partners for Patriots program and met his new service dog, Cai. “I found I could have feelings again,” said Dale. “He saved my life.”

With support from a $10,000 Veterinary Assistance Grant to K9 Partners for Patriots, Cai will continue to receive quality veterinary care, ensuring these two can continue serving each other.
