The unbreakable spirit of a dog never ceases to amaze us.

Sandy was brought to Young-Williams Animal Center in Knoxville, Tennessee after being hit by a car. X-rays revealed her back leg needed to be amputated. When the veterinary team prepped Sandy for surgery, she was scared and in pain. But she didn’t squirm. She didn’t growl. Her response? To lick the faces of those caring for her. Sandy’s surgery went flawlessly, and after recovering she found her forever family.

A $13,315 Banfield Foundation Veterinary Medical Equipment Grant enabled Young-Williams to purchase a surgery monitor, surgical lights and three heated surgery tables. This equipment helps provide care to pets like Sandy and the 4,500 surgery patients this shelter provide care for each year!
