• I think my dog just had a seizure. Should I take her to the vet?

There are five main causes of seizures in dogs. Young dog’s sometimes have congenital issues that can lead to seizures, older dogs can have tumors or other problems in their brain, all dogs can have seizures as a result of either poisoning or some other metabolic problem that can impact the brain, and young to middle-aged dogs can even develop epilepsy.

By examining your dog, how well she recovers from the seizure, and other diagnostic tests, we can figure out what the most likely cause is and then we can work with you to determine the best way to treat it.

Some dogs with epilepsy don't require treatment right away, but if the condition worsens over time, we might begin treatment to prevent it.
