Pet Healthcare Industry Summit

August 12, 2015 • Portland, OR

For the past 14 years Banfield has been the convener and host of the annual Pet Healthcare Industry Summit, an event that brings together industry leaders to tackle some of the big challenges facing the profession. This year we had a record number of attendees from all realms of the veterinary industry, including representatives from veterinary medical colleges, national and state associations, veterinary service providers, suppliers and nonprofit organizations. Banfield also sponsored the attendance of four student leaders from the Veterinary Business Management Association (VBMA) and the Student American Veterinary Medical Association (SAVMA).

This year, we learned about a problem-solving methodology called “Design Thinking” and explored ways that this protocol can help drive innovation and deliver results. Participants heard from keynote speaker John Ravitch, a “Design Thinking” expert and partner at the global design firm IDEO. We also debuted our 2015 State of Pet Health Report, which focused on the gap between how pet owners and veterinarians perceive preventive care as well as how our profession might be more effective in partnering with pet owners to ensure that all pets get the care they deserve.
