Banfield, Animal Humane Society Provide Preventive Care to Pets at SAVMA
March 20, 2015 • St. Paul, Minnesota
On March 21, 2015, Banfield partnered with the American Humane Society and the Student American Veterinary Medical Association (SAVMA) to create an event that benefitted both veterinary students and pets of low-income families in Minnesota.
As part of the SAVMA 2015 symposium, one full day was dedicated to putting on a preventive care clinic that delivered services like exams, vaccinations, parasite prevention and dewormings to needy pets in a diverse St. Paul neighborhood. Banfield doctors and technicians worked alongside veterinary students, giving those students a unique opportunity to gain the valuable hands-on experience that can’t be replicated in classrooms.
In addition to performing the medical services themselves, students got a chance to hone their client communication skills, as well as network with mentors and peers.
