    Dr. Alexa Powers


    Dr. Powers grew up in the Chicago area and then moved to Holland, Michigan to attend Hope College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in French. During that time, she spent a year studying abroad in Nantes, France. Afterward, she moved to the island of St. Kitts to attend Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. She also spent several weeks volunteering in Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama with other veterinary students. Shhe moved to Iowa to complete her clinical rotations during her final year of veterinary school at Iowa State University. She completed her externships in Fez, Morocco and Paris, France. Dr. Powers currently lives in Springfield with her husband and enjoys hiking, biking, running, cooking and playing frisbee. More Details >>

    Practice Manager

    Shannon has eleven years of experience in a veterinary hospital from being a technician in a feline-only hospital in Chicago to managing hospitals in Chicago and Texas and now managing a hospital in her hometown! Shannon and her husband Brandon are the proud owners of several pets, including Cera, a Boston Terrier mix; 4 cats named Levi, Muzzy, Timmy and Jampa and two guinea pigs named Freddie and Piggy.     Heidi Sherrock, DVM


    Dr. Sherrock is a Central Illinois native and graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. After years in emergency medicine, mixed-animal medicine and working with an animal shelter, Dr. Sherrock brings her vast knowledge to our hospital. Dr. Sherrock loves getting to know clients and their pets, watching pets grow up, and partnering with clients to keep pets healthy. She has an interests in internal medicine, soft tissue surgeries and neurology. When she is not in the hospital and educating clients on preventive medicine, Dr. Sherrock is strengthening her commitment to her church, spending time with family and riding her bike.
