Dr. Shannon Burroughs
Dr. Shannon Burroughs graduated with honors from North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. Her special areas of interest include soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, endocrinology, and geriatric medicine. She has been with Banfield, at the Brier Creek location, for almost four years. In addition to working with great clients and their pets, her favorite thing about being a veterinarian is the element of surprise, "You never know what is getting ready to walk in the door and that keeps things interesting." She has four cats (Orion, Heeley, Ginger, and Sasha) and a dog, Miss Gina. She plans to add a flock of backyard chickens to their home soon. On her days off she enjoys spending time outside with her four year old son and her husband. Her favorite activities include geocaching, running, gardening, and scrapbooking her family's adventures. She trains for and runs several half marathons each year. She also has a passion for travel and has visited over 30 countries around the world.
Dr. Amanda Baruth Newton
Dr. Newton is a native of Yonkers, NY. She attended Clemson University in Clemson, SC where she graduated with a degree in Animal Science in 2008. She received her Doctor of Veterninary Medicine from NC State University in 2012. She has lived in the south for the past 10 years. She met her husband, TJ, at Clemson during her sophomore year and married him in May 2012 following graduation from vet school. They currently reside in Durham with 3 cats- Mason, Beau, and Smush (a fluffy white persian kitty!), 1 dog- a labradoodle named Dixie Belle, and an african grey parrot named Snuggles who will be 21 years old this year! When she is not taking care of Banfield's fluffy friends, she can be found riding her hunter/jumper horse Lucky or working out at Crossfit 919. She and her husband also love to travel and spend time with their family. Her favorite part of being a veterinarian is getting to meet new people and their pets and developing lifelong relationships with both!
Dr. Sharon Davis
Dr. Sharon Davis is originally from the beautiful Tarheel state of Raleigh, North Carolina. Dr. Davis obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the esteemed Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama. Additionally, Dr. Davis possesses a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia. Dr. Davis has been practicing veterinary medicine for six years with Banfield Pet Hospital. Essentially, Dr. Davis is living her childhood dream of being an advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves! She strives to learn more in the field and contribute significantly to this profession.
