    Dr. Karen Gjevre

    Veterinarian

I graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. I have been with Banfield for 2.5 years. Some of my areas of interest include avian and small animals. I have a cat named Mable, a 5 year old domestic shorthair; a 6 year old Timneh Grey Parrot named Solveig; Make and Muso are my 25+ year old Timneh Grey Parrot Pair and a 47 year old Panama Amazon named Peggy. I used to own an Arabian horse named Monkey, and I have trained hearing dogs for hearing-impaired and deaf people. I have performed CPR on multiple goldfish and bettas and have successfully revived them. I love to bake and I make the world’s best pumpkin pie. My goals for the future would be to work in a practice where 50% of my patients are birds and small animals and offer alternative therapies for my patients (i.e. acupuncture, herbal medicine and chiropractic).

    Dr. Amberleigh Barker

    Veterinarian

I graduated from Hamline University with a B.A in Biology before attending the Colorado State University of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. I have been working for Banfield for 3 years and I have been at the Maple Grove location since August 2011. A special interest of mine is internal medicine, but I love the variety that general practice has to offer. I have two dachshunds named Max and Charlie, a red heeler named Ginger and a white and Orange kitten named Julian. I love to travel and have been to Europe, Africa and the Caribbean, but I’m still hoping to make it to Asia and Australia one of these days! My current goal is to provide the best care for every patient and to educate owners on how they can better care for their furry family members.

    Dr Lauren Lehtinen

    Veterinarian

I have been with Banfield since June 2011. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Baylor University and a Master’s degree in Veterinary Parasitology from Texas A&M University. I moved north to attend Veterinary School at the University of Minnesota and graduated in 2011. I have 2 feisty orange cats named Moby and Theo and a very sweet golden retriever named Lola. I am interested in providing veterinary care to under-serviced populations and have volunteered with organizations, providing care on reservations and at soup kitchens. I love doing crossword puzzles, and that I am an excellent shower singer! My goals as a veterinarian are to be a strong advocate for those who have no voice and also to provide the highest level of care to help pets and families stay healthy and happy.
