    Dr. Wendy Carter

    Associate Veterinarian

    Dr. Wendy Carter is a Charleston native and has loved animals for as long as she can remember. Growing up, her family had many pets including cats and dogs, pigeons, chickens and ducks, reptiles, muskrats, hamsters, and hermit crabs! She attended Clemson University for her undergraduate studies, focusing on pre-vet and animal sciences, and later relocated to Athens, GA to attend UGA Vet School earning her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. After completing school, she returned to Charleston where she married her husband Pat, who is a Mt. Pleasant Police Officer. They have 2 children, Carol and Patrick, a French bulldog, Natasha, a Boston terrier, Frances, and a 3 legged brown tabby, Chocolate Chip. When not at work, Dr. Carter enjoys spending time with her family, reading, swimming, and crocheting. She is passionate about all aspects of veterinary medicine but especially enjoys soft tissue surgery and the challenges that come with endocrine cases. More Details >>

    Dr. James McHugh

    Associate Veterinarian

    Dr. James McHugh grew up in Columbia, SC and attended USC as an undergraduate and the University of Georgia where he earned is Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. He practiced veterinary medicine in Georgia and Michigan before returning home to South Carolina with his wife and, their two mixed breed dogs, Daisy and Possum, and their cat, Albert. Dr. McHugh's special interests include dentistry, geriatrics and feline medicine, and while not at work, he enjoys woodworking and gardening. More Details >>

    Dr. Angela Rawlings

    Associate Veterinarian

    Dr. Angela Rawlings grew up in Louisville, KY and found her way to South Carolina to escape the snow. She has always found the bond humans form with animals to be a very important aspect of life and with both of her parents being in the medical field, her choice to become a Veterinarian was easy. Graduating from Murray State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture, she continued her schooling at The Ohio State University where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Rawlings shares her home with 10-year-old Persian/bobtail mix, Rufus, and a 6-year-old woodland foundling cat named Spencer. When not working, she can be found in the kitchen, in a coffee shop, or hanging upside-down at the circus gym! More Details >>

    Dr. Laura Burgette

    Associate Veterinarian

    Dr. Laura Burgette grew up in Chattanooga, TN and settled in Charleston after looking for a historic southern town for her husband to continue historic preservation carpentry. After graduation from the University of the South with a degree in anthropology and religion, she attended the TN College of Veterinary Medicine where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Burgette has always loved animals and choose the veterinary profession so she would be able to help animals. She shares her home with her husband, their 5-year-old beagle, Olive Ann, and their 12-year-old orange tabby, Alexander Ray. When not working Dr. Burgette loves to cook and garden. More Details >>

    Dr. Haley Evans

    Associate Veterinarian

    Dr Haley Evans was born and raised in Moncks Corner, SC and decided in the second grade that she would be a Veterinarian. After graduating Clemson University for animal science, Dr. Evans went to UGA College of Veterinary Medicine where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine with emphasis in small animal medicine. She shares her home with a 5-year-old Boston terrier, Gabby, and a 1.5 year old DMH named Shady Lady she adopted while in vet school.
