Akita Walks Water Breaks
"For my Akita puppy, is it ok to take him on walks since we take frequent water breaks?"
Walks are fine for your pet as long as he is enjoying them and doesn't seem painful. Here are some signs you would look for in regards to your pet having a difficult time: Panting excessively, limping or abnormal gait, lagging behind, footpads are sore to the touch. As you had stated, take frequent water breaks, especially if he has a thicker coat from the Akita breed. He may get tired quicker than an adult dog would, so be aware of his behavior to prevent exhaustion. If he seems to be limping or sore the following day, speak with your veterinarian. Walking is a great exercise for dogs and is a great way to train and socialize. This also strengthens his muscles and bones as he exercising.
