Anesthesia and surgery always carry some risk, which should be minimized by pre-anesthetic screening, multi-parameter monitoring during the procedure and careful attention to surgical technique. Spayed and neutered dogs may be more prone to weight gain; this can be managed by making sure pets are fed and exercised appropriately.
