What is included in an Optimum Wellness Plan®?

Plans include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since they are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply.

What’s the difference between Optimum Wellness Plans® and pet insurance?

Optimum Wellness Plans® offer proactive, as opposed to reactive, veterinary care. While pet insurance offers coverage for many unforeseen circumstances, our preventive care approach allows us to see, treat and prevent those problems ahead of time. It’s a pet health plan you can actually use. With an Optimum Wellness Plan®, we partner with you to combine physical exams, vaccinations, disease screenings and other pet health necessities into one affordable veterinary care package for your dog, puppy, kitten or cat. Beyond preventive care basics, each plan offers unlimited office visits and other services to monitor, maintain and improve your pet’s unique health care needs.

Can I personalize my Optimum Wellness Plan® with other options?

Absolutely! Below are some of the options that you can add to meet the unique needs of your dog, puppy, kitten or cat.
• Flea & tick preventive
• Heartworm preventive
• Adult spay or neuter
• Additional dental cleaning

How much does an Optimum Wellness Plan® cost?

Optimum Wellness Plan® prices vary by species, location, and the services that best meet the needs of your dog or cat. You can use our pricing calculator to get an estimated monthly cost based on where you live and what type of pet you have. Your Banfield team will work with you to finalize your plan and costs with the unique needs of your pet in mind.

How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan®?

You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments are automatically withdrawn so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. Alternatively, we also offer the option of paying in one lump sum if you prefer.

Can I use my services at another Banfield?

Yes! Whether you’re moving across the country, traveling with your pet or just changing hospitals, you can take your plan with you. All plan services and discounts may be used at any Banfield location.

Is there a discount for services that are not included in the plan?

Plan discounts apply to most non-wellness plan Banfield services and products except for therapeutic diets and any PetSmart services or merchandise.

Your Optimum Wellness Plan® discount applies to:
• All parasite preventives, including FirstShield®, Wormshield® and Comfortis®
• Prescriptions and most medications
• Products like shampoo, conditioners and lotions
• And more!

 I have more than one pet. Do I get a discount on multiple wellness plans?

Yes. As an Optimum Wellness Plan® member, you can also enjoy a $15 discount on the membership fee for multiple pets. 

What happens if I want to cancel my plan?

Plan services are provided at deep discounts under an annual agreement. Agreements may be cancelled at any time. However, if an agreement is cancelled before the end of its term, the client is responsible for the remaining payments on the plan or the full retail value for services or discounts used under the plan less payments received (whichever is less).
