P2V AND BANFIELD, THE PET HOSPITAL® PARTNER TO OFFER VETERINARY CARE FOR VETERAN’S NEWLY ADOPTED PETS
Banfield Donates Wellness Plans to Veterans; Provides Discount to Program Participants
Arlington, Va.—August 31, 2010—
P2V, a non-profit organization that matches military service members, veterans and emergency first responders (P2V Heroes) with companion pets, is partnering with Banfield, The Pet Hospital® to provide high quality veterinary medicine to the adopted pets of P2V Heroes.
“P2V is thrilled to be working with Banfield. Our organization’s goal is to help heal the lives of current and former service men and women who deal with the stress of service related trauma, like Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and traumatic brain injury. This is accomplished through companion animal adoptions and animal assisted activities—P2V’s goal is strengthened by our partnership with Banfield as they focus on keeping our Heroes’ pets healthy and strong,” said David E. Sharpe, founder of P2V. “Because of our partnership with Banfield, our P2V Heroes do not have to worry about finding affordable and high quality medical care for their new family members—instead, they can focus on healing, together.”
Banfield, the largest general veterinary practice in the world with more than 760 hospitals, is providing 25 free Optimum Wellness Plans® per year for three years to select P2V Heroes; all other P2V Heroes receive a waived membership fee. Optimum Wellness Plans are packages of preventive healthcare services that include vaccinations, twice annual tooth-to-tail comprehensive examinations and lab work, among other preventive care services, unlimited free office visits and discounts on veterinary services not included in the plans.
“Banfield is proud to partner with P2V to provide high quality care for the pets of our nation’s heroes. Our practice has a tradition of helping veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much for our country,” said Karen Johnson, DVM, vice president and client advocate for Banfield. “Our hospital teams look forward to building meaningful relationships with P2V Heroes and ensuring their pets receive the best possible veterinary care.”
